The Community Service Volunteer Program is an extremely important and valuable asset to our agency. The service provided to the department and the residents of Sebastian are performed by caring and unselfish individuals, without compensation.
The Volunteers' primary service is to provide residential security checks. This service is for all Sebastian residents and is provided for as little as a few days, but can extend for up to 6 months or more. The residential security checks are done in a very organized and consistent manner that would not be possible without our dedicated Volunteers.
Aside from this service their overall duties include, but are not limited to traffic and crowd control, and miscellaneous pick up and delivery services.
They are always visible and can be counted on at a special City events such as the July 4th Celebration, Halloween Parade and the Santa Sail In. The diversity of their duties are too numerous to outline, but should be especially noted that their efforts not only greatly enhance the department's ability to better serve the residents and business owners of this City, they also save many, many, man hours that would have to be absorbed by sworn and non-sworn personnel.
